Privacy & cookies

Last updated: 19 October 2026

I am Oscar Lopez Lopez, a sole trader trading as Oscar Lopez Drums in Oxford, UK. I am the controller responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy questions or requests, email info@oscarlopezdrums.com.

This notice covers website enquiries, access to student materials and the services used to run this website. Arranging ongoing lessons or a performance may require further information, which I will explain when it is needed.

What information I use

  • Your name, email address, optional phone number, enquiry type and the information you include in your message or follow-up correspondence.
  • Information about a prospective student or event that you provide, such as playing experience, musical interests or an event date and location.
  • Technical information received when the site and its services load, such as IP address, browser/device information and security or delivery records.

If you enquire for a child, please use a parent or carer’s contact details and share only what is needed to discuss lessons. A first name and approximate age or school year are usually enough initially. Please avoid sending medical information or other sensitive details through the form. We can discuss a suitable way to share anything needed for teaching or access arrangements.

There is no legal requirement to send an enquiry. I need an email address and enough information to understand your request to reply. Providing a phone number is optional.

Why I use it

I use enquiry information to answer your questions, discuss availability and prepare lesson or performance arrangements. Where you are enquiring about entering an agreement with me yourself, the lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, or carrying out that contract.

For general questions, enquiries on behalf of an organisation, and information about another person, I rely on legitimate interests: responding to people who contact my business and making appropriate arrangements for the student or event. I use only the information needed for that purpose and consider the interests of the people concerned, particularly children.

I also rely on legitimate interests to protect the website from abuse, manage access to student materials and investigate technical or email-delivery problems. Public Google reviews are displayed to help visitors assess my teaching and performance work.

Services used by the website

The website is hosted by GoDaddy and uses WPForms to process the enquiry form. Enquiries and replies are handled through my email services. Hosting, email-delivery and security services may process the information needed to provide those functions.

Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the form from automated abuse. It processes technical information and uses a risk-analysis cookie. Google reviews are displayed through Trustindex, whose widget loads external assets and receives the technical information needed to deliver them. The displayed reviews may include a reviewer’s public name, photograph, rating and review text, obtained from Google through Trustindex.

These providers operate internationally, so their services may involve processing outside the UK. Their published privacy and data-processing terms explain their processing and the transfer safeguards they provide. You can contact me for further information about the arrangements relevant to this website.

Optional YouTube and Instagram videos

The Performance page shows preview cards hosted on this website. A YouTube or Instagram player only loads when you choose a clip. This is optional: you can browse the page without loading a video.

Choosing a clip gives consent to load it from YouTube (Google) or Instagram (Meta). That provider then receives technical information such as your IP address and browser/device details and may use cookies or similar storage. See Google’s privacy policy and Instagram’s privacy information for how the providers use this information.

To withdraw consent for the embedded player, select Close video. This removes the player; it does not delete information already received by the provider or cookies already stored. You can manage stored cookies through your browser. The separate Watch on YouTube and Watch on Instagram links take you to the providers’ own websites.

Cookies and student access

When you enter the student-library password, WordPress uses a cookie to remember that access. WordPress also uses cookies for administrator sign-in. These support the access you request. The form’s reCAPTCHA protection uses its own cookie, as described above.

You can manage stored cookies through your browser. Removing or blocking them may mean entering the library password again or being unable to use some website functions. If the form causes problems, you can email me directly.

How long I keep enquiries

If an enquiry does not lead to lessons or a booking, I keep it for no longer than 12 months after our last contact, then delete it. I may delete it sooner when it is no longer needed.

If you become a student or make a booking, information needed to provide that service becomes part of the relevant customer records. Accounting, safeguarding and legal records have different purposes and retention requirements; the 12-month enquiry period does not determine how long those records must be kept. I will explain any additional information and retention arrangements when relevant.

Copies of enquiry messages in email-delivery logs are covered by the same limit. Other security and delivery records are kept while needed to investigate the incident or delivery problem concerned, then deleted when that need ends.

Newsletters and marketing

I do not currently send newsletters or marketing messages. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list. If I introduce one, it will have a separate, optional sign-up explaining what you will receive and how to unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your personal information and for inaccurate information to be corrected. Depending on the circumstances, you can also ask for deletion, restriction of use, or a portable copy of information you have supplied. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions.

Your right to object

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests by explaining your circumstances. I will consider the objection and stop that processing unless there is a lawful reason to continue. You can always object to the use of your information for direct marketing.

Email info@oscarlopezdrums.com to make a request or raise a concern. Requests are normally free, and I will normally respond within one month. I may need enough information to confirm your identity or locate the records concerned.

You can also complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office. See how to make a complaint to the ICO. Contacting me first gives me an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Changes to this notice

I will update this notice when the website’s use of personal information changes and explain any new use before it begins.
