Welcome.

My name is Oscar Lopez.

I teach Drum Lessons in Oxford, UK. In my home studio (in person and online) and at students’ houses. For school aged children, there are options for lessons in local schools (primary & secondary) during term time. I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS and the necessary Safeguarding Training required to work in schools, updated as of 2023/24.

I have been a professional drummer for 15 years and a drum teacher for a decade.
Currently, you can see me playing all over the United Kingdom in weddings and corporate events with The Bandeoke Experience and Milo Max, with whom I’ve had the opportunity to perform for the likes of the BBC, Google, Redbull, Virgin Media/O2, Tesco Mobile, Levi’s, and many others at some of the top venues around the UK.

You can also see me blasting out some prog metal with LestWeForget.

Ages from 7yrs/old to adults. Any younger will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
We can agree on appropriate lengths depending on the student, usually between 20 minutes and 2 hours. From complete beginners to advanced players. I have developed my own lesson material (free to download upon enrolment) and it is continually growing. It includes sheets of exercises, note-by-note transcriptions and Gig-Ready Charts. We can also focus on formal Grades (Trinity/Rock School).

For complete beginners, especially younger ones, the lessons are closer to an introduction to music through the lens of drums than to a masterclass in technique. Most of the time young students are naïve to the breadth and scope of music itself beyond playlists parents play in the car on the way to school. Hence, I use the drums as a vehicle for discovery.

As an Adult beginner, I’m sure you know what you enjoy listening to. My approach is to take your taste and show you the fundamentals of drumming through what you enjoy listening to.

For advanced students, I specialise in the psychology of drumming, strategies for the development of Mastery and high performance, professional advancement. All this without losing sight of long-term health on the instrument.

I will be uploading more information soon. In the meantime, if you are interested in drum lessons in Oxford, please get in touch via the contact form.

I look forward to hearing from you.
